Ok Things are not Quite that Bad- Day Three, August 12th, In Bagram

Alright, just wanted to say that maybe the last post was a little harsh or you may say whiny. So... yeah its not quite that bad. Yes it does stink like crap, dust is permanently stuck up my nose, the tent I sleep in is like some twisted fraternity house that puts everyone in a crappy tent in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of people who can't seem to pick up after themselves unless they are told, but the main point is that I don't have to stay here for six months or a year, so who am I to complain. For me this is a short-lived novelty that is soon to end. So apologies.

On to today's gigs. Our first was an acoustic set at the Dining Facility. This went over well, and we were guaranteed a good audience because that place really fills up. The crowd seemed real appreciative and we had a good time singing and playing. Face it, anytime someone pays me to play guitar is a good day.

Next was a full electric gig down the road, but still on base thank you, for mostly Army, outside a PX. We were able to have a couple of people from the crowd sit in and play with us, which is always cool. It was a great crowd. We did have to cut the gig a bit short due to, listen to this- A RAIN STORM! Huh, go figure. We were almost done, so it wasn't that bad. Oh yeah, we were offered three camels for Jamie- we're thinking. ......... What?! three camels go a long way over here.
Pictures of the gigs to follow when I get to a civilized base, run by the Air Force.
All for now. James

  1. Love your blog and photos - you'll actually miss deployment a little when you get home!
    Anyway,
Just be glad you didn't go into Kandahar.
Bagram is like Shangri-La compared to what we had in Kandahar. We were DREAMING of Bagram when we were laying in the filth that was Kandahar!
Congrats on completing your tour of the AOR. I'm catching up on reading all your posts now. You'll be home soon, enjoy Doha, its an amazing city!!
